Ohio, in freight terms.
Ohio is the reason this business exists. Three of the busiest freight interstates in the eastern United States cross here — I-70 running east to west, I-71 diagonally through the middle, and I-75 north to south along the western edge — and a truck leaving central Ohio in the morning reaches roughly sixty per cent of the United States population inside a day.
That geography pulled an extraordinary amount of distribution capacity into the state, and distribution capacity generates used pallets in enormous quantities. The Rickenbacker cluster on the south side of Columbus, the CSX and Norfolk Southern intermodal terminals, and the warehouse belts around Cincinnati, Cleveland and Toledo between them turn over more cores than any other state we serve.
Practically, that means depth. We hold more 48×40 GMA in Ohio than anywhere else, same-day collection is realistic across most of Franklin County, and short-notice orders are a routine matter rather than a favour. It is also where our grading standard is enforced most tightly, because it is the stock our own graders touch every day.
